In the 19th century, Japan has transformed itself from a sub par nation, when it came to industrialisation, into a thriving industrial power that overshadowed every other country in its sphere of influence. It went on to turn into the most influential country in the pacific by 1943 when it was at the culmination of its territorial and influential power.
